Opening at the Cowra Regional Art Gallery on Saturday 16 December is the exhibition THE CALLEEN COLLECTION: 40 Year Anniversary, a diverse collection of Australian art assembled during the last 40 years as the winners of the acquisitive Calleen Art Award. The Calleen Collection and the Calleen Art Award were established in 1977 by Cowra arts patron Mrs. Patricia Fagan, OAM.

Through the generosity and vision of Mrs Fagan, the Calleen Collection forms an important and distinctive association with the Cowra Regional Art Gallery as its foundation collection. The Calleen Art Award supported by the Calleen Trust has also developed as a substantial annual art prize, open to artists across Australia.

All the works in the Calleen Collection will be on display including works by Mandy Martin, Greg Daly, Claire Martin, Rowen Matthews, Meg Buchanan, David Fairbairn, Yvonne Boag, Peter Gardiner and Martin Coyte from New south Wales and Naomi White, G.W.Bot, Gladdy Kermarre and Zai Kuang from interstate, to name a few.

The opening is not only a special preview of this must-see exhibition but also the special guest speaker is Mr. Angus Trumble, Director of the National Portrait Gallery. Gallery doors opens at 6pm for 6.30pm, admission is free and finger food will be served. The Cowra Regional Art Gallery is located at 77 Darling Street and open Tuesday to Saturday 10am–4pm, Sunday 2pm–4pm. Admission is free. For more information contact the Gallery on 6340 2190.
